Community and State Relations

The mission of the Office of Government and Community Relations is to promote the partnership between Rensselaer, the local community, and the state of New York. Working together, we can advance the vision of the city of Troy and the state of New York, and advance the goals within The Rensselaer Plan 2024.

To accomplish this, our office works with local governments and state officials to coordinate visits to campus, arrange meetings with campus faculty/staff, and increases awareness of Rensselaer’s events and programming. At the local level, the office tracks regional developments, and at a broader level, we track the New York state budget and legislation related to issues such as student financial aid programs, funding for programs where Rensselaer supports businesses such as those through the New York State Division of Science, Technology, and Innovation, intellectual property legislation, and campus safety.
