Government and Community Relations

The Capital Region Workforce Roundtable
Chips and Science Act of 2022

Welcome to the Office of Government and Community Relations.  Our mission is to:

  • Position Rensselaer to take a leadership role in federal and state research and technology agendas.
  • Develop and foster funding opportunities to support Rensselaer’s strategic research and education initiatives.
  • Coordinate and enhance partnerships with our host communities to build communiversity.

Government and Community Relations advocates for Rensselaer on the federal, state, and local levels. This includes monitoring legislation related to higher education, working with elected officials and their staffs to increase awareness of the university’s research and educational programs, and serving as the liaison between the Institute and all levels of government. We also manage engagement with the communities in which we work, live, and learn.

Members of the Rensselaer community should consult with the Office of Government and Community Relations prior to initiating contact with federal, state, or local elected officials and must report engagement with elected officials and/or employees of the local, county, state, and federal governments and lobbying activities.
